HAU Energy and Infinity Power secured a landmark financing package of up to USD 566 million for the development of the 1.2 GWp Nefer Minya Solar PV Project, set to become the largest solar power plant in Egypt and Africa.

Located in Minya, the project will integrate a 600 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), combining large-scale solar generation with advanced energy storage to strengthen grid reliability and provide clean electricity during peak demand after sunset.

The financing package includes up to USD 265 million arranged by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), with additional financing from Bank of Jordan, DEG, FMO – Dutch entrepreneurial development bank, Proparco, alongside the Clean Technology Fund, reflecting strong international confidence in Egyptโ€™s renewable energy sector.

Once operational, the project is expected to power more than 1.4 million homes annually and avoid over 1.5 million tonnes of COโ‚‚ emissions each year, making a significant contribution to Egyptโ€™s energy security and decarbonisation ambitions.

This milestone further strengthens HAU Energyโ€™s renewable energy portfolio of approximately 3.3 GW under development, reinforcing Hassan Allam Utilitiesโ€™ role in mobilising investment, building strategic partnerships, and accelerating Egyptโ€™s transition towards a more sustainable energy future.
