The project is part of the Ministry of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities (MHUUC) implementation of the National Rural Sanitation Program (NRSP) by the World Bank through the "Sustainable Rural Sanitation Services Program for Results" (SRSSP). The Program is financed by the World Bank through a Program for Results (PforR) loan totaling USD 550 M and is to be completed by October 2020.
This new award is to build a wastewater treatment plant on an engineering, procurement, and construction basis using the new technology of MBBR, and is a testament of HAC’s leadership in the field of complex and advanced technology infrastructure projects. The project was awarded on competitive bidding basis and Veolia Egypt is a consortium partner to HAC. HAC is currently building as an EPC contractor several large scale water and wastewater treatment plants in Egypt, all aimed at enhancing the quality of life in Egypt’s cities and focused on supporting the Egyptian National Rural Sanitation Program (NRSP).
