We are pleased to announce the establishment of H.A Utilities, a Netherland based company wholly owned by Hassan Allam Holding. In this regard, H.A Utilities has successfully closed its first investment alongside Taqa Arabia to build a 50MW Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Power Plant located on a solar site near the village of Benban in Upper Egypt (Aswan). This project is being developed under Egypt’s Round II Feed-in-Tariff (FiT) Program. It is one of 29 other solar projects being developed under the program and financed by the International Finance Corporation (IFC), European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and other developmental financial institutions supporting the Government of Egypt’s initiative to diversify its sources of energy.
In 2019, once completed, the Benban solar site will become the world’s largest solar park with a planned total capacity of 1.8GW. These solar projects will be the first private utility-scale renewable-energy projects contributing to a major shift in Egypt’s energy market, engaging the private sector in support of renewable energy development and creating a reference for many similar projects in the sector in the future.
